This position is located in the city of El Monte .
Duties involve a wide range of interpreting for Deaf and Hard of Hearing staff in the Department of Rehabilitation. Activities include, but are not limited to: Interpreting professional meetings, telephone calls, one-on-one meetings with departmental staff or the general public, case staffing, training sessions, departmental operations, inter-departmental meetings, conferences and public events as needed by the department. May retrieve voice mail messages, return calls and assist with other communication needs of the employee. May interpret for staff members who have contact with Deaf/Hard of Hearing consumers.
When it is required, interpret as a team with other SSA-Interpreters or contract interpreters.
Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent must live and work in California. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time.

The majority of the work will take place in one of the following locations with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders: a DOR open office setting in a cubicle environment, offsite in the community, at events and various partner locations, and/or at an approved alternate work location. The incumbent must have the ability to work in an office setting for up to 40 hours per week and remain at a workstation for extended periods while utilizing a personal computer, peripherals, and other office equipment with or without accommodation. The incumbent will be working in an office setting with both natural and artificial lighting. Strong interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Permanent Intermittent Positions:
Permanent Intermittent employees are not allowed to work more than 1500 hours in a calendar year. The anticipated time worked will be 30 hours per week. If selected, the employee will receive an hourly compensation based on the number of hours worked.
