Description

We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Java/JEE Developer (Entry Level) to join our team to begin an exciting and challenging career in Ashburn, VA.

The Java Developer will participate in the system architecture design, systems engineering, development, integration testing and validation, and all aspects of the software life-cycle (requirements to design to implementation to test) for a browser-based application implemented using Java and backend web services. The candidate will be responsible for developing and testing Java code as dictated by project requirement.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, test, and document back-end components written in Java.
• Research, analysis, and integration of Java technologies and open source libraries.
• Design new Java microservices projects and refactor existing ones.
• Design and implement microservices using the Spring framework.
• Must be hands on and be able to design and develop Java code as dictated by project requirements as needed.
• Write and execute tests to identify bugs and ensure software runs smoothly across all web platforms. Debug and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
• Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability while ensuring application security.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in web development, particularly React.js, to continuously improve product and personal knowledge.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years experience with back-end technologies: Java, open-source Java libraries (e.g. Apache Commons, Spring).
• 2+ years experience with web services and related technologies including REST, JSON, and Soap/XML.
• Experience with databases and SQL.
• Experience with unit testing with Junit.
• Experience with using modern Java development IDEs (IntelliJ/Eclipse).
• Understating of JavaScript.
• Ability to work in a UNIX/Linux environment.
• Knowledge with version control systems such as Git.
• Ability to understand Spring-based dependency injection.
• Development of microservices using Spring - Primarily Spring Boot.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced development environment.

Customer Requirements:

• Clearance - Ability to obtain and hold a public trust position and favorable suitability based on a CBP Background Investigation.
• Citizenship - Must be a US Citizen.
• Location - Hybrid with on-site (Ashburn, VA) visits 2 days per week and if a mission need. All candidates must be within the GWA/commutable area.
