Get to Know Your Team:

Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU.

Responsibilities:

The Histotechnician functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for pre-analytical specimen preparation and processing; embedding, microtomy, and maintaining the equipment under the direction of the Histology/Pathology department leadership, Pathologist, or designee.
The position may also perform specimen grossing of surgically removed tissue under the supervision of the Pathologist.
All duties performed will be within the guidelines set forth by regulatory and hospital guidelines to maintain, manage, and assure specimen integrity.

Qualifications:

Job Requirements:

Associate's degree in histotechnology, laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution, OR education/training equivalent.
ASCP or equivalent certification as a histotechnician.
Experience within a clinical or anatomic pathology department.
Must possess good writing and verbal skills.

Preferred Job Requirements:

6 months’ experience as a Histotechnician

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
