Job Summary – Facilities Director
The Schorr Family Firehouse Stage is a 130-seat non-traditional venue located in Johnson City, NY and part of an emerging multiple venue complex that is entering a construction and expansion phase and capital campaign. The Facilities Director manages all facility operations of the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage & Firehouse Building (48 Willow Street, Johnson City, NY), the Goodwill Theatre Office Building (67 Broad Street, Johnson City, NY), the historic Goodwill Theatre Building (36 Willow Street, Johnson City, NY), and the surrounding land and parking areas. This includes facility maintenance, care of equipment, scheduling labor, advance planning for shows and events, landscaping, trash removal, snow & ice removal, janitorial duties, and safety enforcement. The Facilities Director assists with our annual gala that is off-site. This position is the first responder and contact for all building security systems 24/7. The Facilities Director ensures all aspects of the facilities and grounds are clean, tidy, and in good working order and reports to the General Manager. This job includes night and weekend work and a flexible schedule. There is an opportunity for advancement as the project progresses.
Essential Functions
• Ensures the safe and efficient operation of the facilities and related equipment.
• Cleans and maintains all facilities and grounds.
• Monitors the condition of equipment and arranges for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints; performs preventive maintenance on equipment; maintains orderly inventory and storage of all equipment.
• Determines the special needs necessary for meetings, events, performances, and rentals presented at the facilities and estimates repair and supply restocking costs; maintains inventories and orders janitorial and other supplies, with approval, as needed.
• Assists the Technical Director with supervision on site for all facility usage, including load-in, load-out, rehearsals, performances, meetings, and rentals.
• Plans and implements approved equipment purchases and upgrades.
• Manages all properties and facilities (24/7). This includes 67 Broad Street, 48 Willow Street, 36 Willow Street and all parking areas.
• Acts as the primary responder to building security systems (24/7).
• Performs necessary building repairs, upkeep, and renovations.
• Makes deliveries and pickups as needed; Chauffeurs as needed.
• Coordinates snow removal and trash management for all facilities and sidewalks. May be personally responsible for some snow removal and trash management.
• Develops and enforces standard safety practices. Performs emergency procedures as needed and is trained in CPR, first aid and AED (defibrillator) use. Maintains emergency equipment.
• Assists with piano and other large equipment moving when needed.
• Works with Concessions Manager on maintaining concession inventory and ordering.
• May work as a liaison with construction personnel onsite; oversees punch lists.
Qualifications
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities management is desired.
• A 2-year college degree or above is preferred.
• Strong project management skills, particularly focused on managing schedules, scope, and cost trade-offs of projects.
• Familiarity with standard technical protocols, safety standards, and best practices.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to use and produce documents in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with facility operations.
• Composure and ability to lead with confidence and calmness when faced with competing high-priority projects and tough decisions.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• An initiative-taking individual who can thrive while working in a team environment.
• Some experience with construction oversight is ideal.
• Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs; must be able to lift 50 pounds or more and walk with it.
• Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License.
