Overview We're looking for a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Document Processing Specialist to support the flow and quality of medical records within our electronic patient record system. In this role, you'll prepare, scan, and verify medical documents for accuracy, ensuring seamless integration into the electronic record. You’ll play a vital part in maintaining data integrity by following standardized HIM guidelines and promptly communicating any issues that could affect quality or processing timelines. Responsibilities Information Management: - Accurately prepare paper medical records for scanning following standardized HIM system wide prep guidelines.
- Scans paper medical records into the electronic health record using a scanning device.
- Accurately Indexes and verifies medical record images into the electronic health record following standardized HIM system wide document type guidelines.
- Responsible for the verification batches of scanned medical record images are released into the appropriate quality review queue or committed into the patient’s electronic medical record.
- Monitors and processes images from network file sweep folders.
- Meet quality and productivity standards.
- Upon request assist in the training of new hires by utilizing operational knowledge of prepping, scanning, and indexing processes.
- Responsible for communication and reporting any system or workflow issues to appropriate leadership or team members.
- Upon request, performs quality control and processing of reports.
- Retrieves paper documents from defined patient care locations.
Customer Service: - Promptly answers office phone calls or assists with phone coverage.
- Frequently monitors incoming department faxes, as necessary.
- Responds to and fulfills continuation of care requests, as necessary.
Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous work history in health information services/medical records department or office experience.
- One to three years of experience with an electronic health record or hospital/medical setting.
