AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Seeking a AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer who will be responsible for the implementation, 24x7 operational support, automation, availability, and performance management of our clients public cloud environment (on the infrastructure side only). The candidate is responsible to work with multi-disciplined IT technical teams to collaborate and manage infrastructure, automation, and applications in the public cloud with a focus on AWS. They need to contribute valuably to the evaluation of application and infrastructure cloud readiness, work on cloud migration plan to support on-premise moves to a cloud service as well as the long-term management of the infrastructure associated with these applications. Installs, tunes, upgrades, troubleshoots, and maintains all computer systems relevant to the supported applications including all necessary tasks to perform operating system administration, user account management, disaster recovery strategy and networking configuration.

Candidate must have a strong and broad foundational IT skillset including supporting AWS Cloud services (creating EC2-s is required) within a Linux/Windows environment.

Our client is seeking candidates that reside in the Wash DC, Maryland or Virginia area for monthly as onsite meetings, in Maryland (2-3x per month) which will eventually become weekly visits. Although this position is a 40 hour per week workweek, candidates will be expected to support after hour releases/updates/patches 1x per week and 1 weekend per month.

Required Skills

- 5+ years of total IT experience with at least 3 years of AWS Cloud Infrastructure Experience
-BIG PLUS: AWS certification(s) such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer is Preferred.

Must have Tech Stack:
-Prior experience in a Windows and Linux environment
- Messaging Queue (IBM preferred, not required)
- AWS Infrastructure support, specific experience in creating EC2's is required. Understanding of AWS Network Architecture. Knowledge of AWS platform and services but not limited to VPC, Subnets, NACLs, Security Groups, EC2, S3, IAM, ELBs, Lambdas, Cloud Watch, CloudTrail, EKS etc. Solid understanding of cloud computing principles, architectures, and services offered by AWS.
- Diverse understanding data storage types
- DNS, Static IP's, Application Load Balancer, Load Balancer, SFTP
- Web Service/REST API (will not be developing API's from scratch, will be working with the connectivity URL/DNS to the API's).
- Must have experience supporting AWS Compute, Network, Backup, Database
- Must have cross platform enterprise experience across IT (Server, Network, Storage, Security).
